KS1 and EYFS Visit to

Peterborough Museum

March 2017

Peterborough Museum

A fabulous visit to the Peterborough Museum took place in March with all of the KS1 and Reception children. They went along to learn about hospitals in the early 20th Century and in particular Edith Cavell's impact on nursing.

Throughout the day the children took part in a variety of activities giving them an insight to hospital life during the period. They found that all the nurses were women and the doctors were men so they had to make a hat that was appropriate to them.

They discovered that being a nurse during these times didn't just involve caring for parents but also washing, cooking, cleaning and ironing.

One of the highlights of the day for the children was to see what may have happened in the hospital's theatre as the children were given the opportunity to perform 'surgery', clean the room and bandage broken limbs. The results were interesting!
